Low Voltage Cable Technicians - Data Center Roles

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA (QTS Data Center)

Position Summary:

  • The Low Voltage Cable Technician is responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems within the QTS Data Center. This role supports critical infrastructure projects by ensuring high-quality installation of copper and fiber optic cabling while maintaining strict safety, quality, and production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, route, dress, label, and terminate low voltage copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, rack elevations, cable schedules, and project drawings.
  • Perform cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting to ensure system performance.
  • Install pathways, cable trays, ladder racks, conduit, and support structures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, labeling, and as-built records.
  • Follow all data center standards, customer requirements, and company quality procedures.
  • Adhere to OSHA regulations and site-specific safety policies.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, leads, and project teams to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Experience installing structured cabling systems in commercial, industrial, or data center environments.
  • Knowledge of copper and fiber optic cabling installation practices.
  • Ability to read construction drawings, network diagrams, and work orders.
  • Experience with cable termination, testing, and certification preferred.

  • Data center, mission-critical, or hyperscale facility experience.
  • Fiber optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience working in active construction or technology environments.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $40.00/hr.
