Service Tire Technician

This role provides hands-on service for fleets and commercial accounts in a busy warehouse and service environment. The position offers challenging, physical work with clear opportunities to increase pay as you demonstrate the ability to handle more complex tire applications and grow into a long-term career.

Responsibilities
  • Perform minor automotive services for fleet and commercial accounts, including tire changes, oil changes, and related basic maintenance.
  • Work on a wide range of tire applications, including agriculture, forklift, lawnmower, truck, and automotive tires.
  • Use jacks to safely hoist vehicles and remove, bolt, and unbolt tires according to proper procedures.
  • Move tires throughout the shop and organize the warehouse to ensure an efficient and orderly work area.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in the warehouse and service areas.
  • Support the service department in handling both appointments and walk-in customers on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Fulfill customer service requests promptly and professionally, addressing service needs and answering basic questions.
  • Drive the company service truck as needed to complete on-site customer service calls once trained and comfortable with tire applications.
  • Gradually take on customer service calls outside the shop after becoming proficient with agriculture, fleet, and auto tires.
  • Collaborate with other service technicians to manage workflow in the shipping/receiving, service, and retread areas.
  • Follow safety guidelines when using hand tools, power tools, and air tools during service and repair work.
  • Demonstrate reliability and consistency in day-to-day duties, contributing to a strong record of longevity in the role.
  • Remain open to the possibility of overnight service calls once hired on permanently, supporting customer needs as required.
Essential Skills
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated longevity in previous roles, with 1 or more years in each position on the resume.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic automotive and tire-related service.
  • Previous mechanic experience or prior tire service experience.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and air tools safely and effectively.
  • Capability to perform physical labor, including lifting, moving, and installing tires in a demanding environment.
  • Customer service skills to interact with fleet and commercial customers regarding their service needs.
  • Reliability and readiness to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience as a service technician in automotive, tire, or general labor environments.
  • Familiarity with brake pad work and basic auto service procedures.
  • Comfort working with production-style workflows in a warehouse and service setting.
  • Willingness to learn and handle every tire application, from small equipment to large truck and agriculture tires.
  • Openness to eventually support overnight service work once hired on permanently, if needed.

Environment

The role is based in a basic warehouse facility divided into shipping/receiving, service, and retread areas. The environment can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, and the work is physically demanding, often leaving you sore after a full day. The standard shift runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break and occasional shorter breaks.
