Job Summary

We are seeking an Entry-Level Data Center Technician to support the installation and maintenance of structured cabling, fiber infrastructure, and equipment within critical data center environments. This contract-to-hire opportunity provides hands‑on training and mentorship while building experience in the telecommunications, low-voltage, and skilled trades industries. The role involves fiber and cable installation, cable management, equipment installation, infrastructure buildout, and adherence to established safety standards.

This is a construction-focused position rather than an IT support role and requires the ability to work extended shifts and mandatory overtime as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform structured cabling and fiber infrastructure rough-in.
  • Dress, route, organize, and label cabling according to installation standards.
  • Perform cable and fiber termination.
  • Rack and stack customer equipment.
  • Assist with server rack buildouts and rack elevations.
  • Install fiber trays, ladder racks, power trays, cabinets, and related infrastructure.
  • Receive materials and assemble required hardware.
  • Perform Outside Plant (OSP) installation, including routing fiber into data center facilities.
  • Read and follow blueprints and installation plans.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions while maintaining professional communication with colleagues and management.
  • Maintain a clean and organized jobsite.
  • Follow all applicable safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and OSHA protocols.
Job Requirements
  • 0-2 years of Data Center Technician, structured cabling, low-voltage, construction, or related skilled trades experience.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Construction or skilled trades background preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and installation instructions.
  • Ability to work on ladders and scissor lifts and within confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and work on your feet for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability and willingness to work 10-12 hour shifts, 5-6 days per week depending on project and site requirements.
  • Willingness to work mandatory overtime as required.
  • Openness to travel is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to provide and use basic hand tools, including a multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose pliers, channel-lock pliers, punch-down tool, flashlight, tool pouch, gloves, and steel-toe or composite-toe work boots.
Benefits
  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • 401(k)
Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)
  • This is a construction and low-voltage infrastructure position, not an IT support position.
  • Work schedules may consist of 5-6 days per week with 10-12 hour shifts depending on the assigned project or building.
  • Overtime is mandatory when required by project needs.
  • Travel is not required, but willingness to travel is considered a plus.
