Industrial Mechanic, Millwright, Conveyor Technician

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA
Project Duration: Up to 23 weeks

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Conveyor Technician to provide on-site mechanical maintenance, conveyor troubleshooting, and production support for newly installed industrial conveyor systems at a manufacturing facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

This position requires the technician to remain on-site in Cedar Rapids for up to 23 weeks. The primary responsibility is to provide continuous production support and respond quickly to conveyor equipment issues by troubleshooting, repairing, adjusting, and maintaining mechanical components to minimize production downtime.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site mechanical maintenance and production support for newly installed industrial conveyor systems.
• Monitor conveyor equipment during production and respond quickly to mechanical failures, equipment issues, and unexpected downtime.
• Perform conveyor troubleshooting, mechanical repairs, adjustments, and corrective maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair problems involving bearings, rollers, chains, belts, sprockets, shafts, gearboxes, and other conveyor mechanical components.
• Perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance to improve conveyor reliability and equipment performance.
• Support conveyor equipment startup, production ramp-up, commissioning support, and ongoing equipment reliability.
• Complete mechanical repairs with minimal disruption to manufacturing and production operations.
• Inspect conveyor systems for component wear, alignment problems, loose hardware, damaged components, and potential mechanical failures.
• Perform mechanical alignment, equipment adjustments, component replacement, and conveyor repair work.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems involving material handling systems and industrial production equipment.
• Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering personnel to resolve equipment issues and reduce downtime.
• Maintain a consistent on-site presence throughout the project to provide immediate maintenance support and mechanical troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Technician, Maintenance Technician, Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, Conveyor Technician, or similar hands-on industrial maintenance professional.
• Experience maintaining, repairing, or troubleshooting conveyor systems, material handling equipment, or industrial production machinery.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and equipment repair skills.
• Hands-on experience working with bearings, rollers, belts, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and shafts.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, component replacement, equipment adjustments, and mechanical repairs.
• Ability to perform conveyor alignment, adjustment, replacement, installation, and repair work.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment, industrial facility, production plant, warehouse automation environment, or similar operation.
• Ability to identify equipment wear, mechanical failures, alignment issues, and potential causes of conveyor downtime.
• Ability to work independently and respond quickly when mechanical or production equipment problems occur.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, reliability, and attention to equipment condition.
• Must be able to remain on-site in Cedar Rapids, IA for up to 23 weeks.
• Must have strong availability and reliability throughout the production support assignment.
