Position Overview
Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Onboard Maintenance System (OMS) team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The OMS is an aircraft diagnostic system that supports Collins Aerospace’s state‑of‑the‑art flight deck solution. The role involves designing, developing, integrating, and testing OMS software and associated tools and processes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high‑quality software solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead activities in scope planning, architecture and design, system and software requirements, implementation and unit testing, integration and testing/verification, and certification.
- Master the technical aspects of OMS, including system software, configuration, and tool development.
- Build, deliver, and integrate OMS software and configuration on test fixtures and rigs for various aircraft types, performing analyses such as footprint testing.
- Support project execution throughout the development life cycle (planning, development, and certification).
- Coordinate and communicate with team members, technical project managers, systems engineers, and product managers.
- Understand and apply certification requirements for OMS to achieve successful product certification.
- Adhere to processes, continuously seek improvements, and maintain a proactive learning stance.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 5years relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3years experience.
- Proficient in software development with C and SQL.
- Experience with networking technologies (Ethernet, TCP/IP, Wireshark).
- Experience with additional programming or scripting languages such as Python, Lua, HTML5, or JavaScript.
- Rapid learning of new languages and technologies.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to work collaboratively under minimal supervision.
