Location:
Cedar Rapids, IA | Security clearance not required. Travel: up to 4 international trips per year to customer sites or company sites in India.
- Lead and manage software development activities from detailed requirements development through test and certification.
- Lead a team of engineers in a complex avionics department, including design, test, and certification.
- Ensure program performance for cognizant projects and tactical execution of day‑to‑day operations.
- Ensure compliance with development processes and standard work requirements.
- Assign technical resources to work assignments, select, onboard, train, and coach new team members.
- Approve work scope for the assigned portion of the overall program.
- Serve as the primary engineering focal point to customers.
- Actively address employee performance and development issues.
- Identify necessary staff, facilities, and equipment needed for successful project execution.
- Supervise 16 reports, including senior engineers, principal engineers, and systems engineers across software and systems disciplines.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field with 10 years of progressive experience as a Software Engineer in the Aerospace/Defense industry.
- Alternatively, master’s degree or equivalent with 7 years of experience as a Software Engineer in the Aerospace/Defense industry.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with DO‑178C certification.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience leading or contributing to avionics systems/software life‑cycle activities, including requirements, architecture, design, model‑based development, coding, integration, verification, validation, and system testing.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience developing real‑time embedded software applications using high‑level languages such as C or C++.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project planning and execution leadership for moderate to large‑sized teams, delivering on cost, schedule, scope, and quality commitments.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship (non‑US persons only). Company will not offer immigration sponsorship or seek export authorization for this role.
