Job Description Summary
The Specialist Software Engineer focuses on the design and development of web and cloud technologies to support an agile digital business. The role helps define cloud strategies, grow capabilities, and delivers enterprise‑wide solutions through technical leadership, innovative design, and platform decisions.
Responsibilities- Design and implement cloud‑native architectures on AWS following the Well‑Architected Framework principles.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and infrastructure provisioning.
- Develop serverless and containerized applications using Lambda, ECS/EKS, and API Gateway.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Cloud Formation, CDK, or Terraform.
- Design and optimize data storage solutions (DynamoDB, RDS/Aurora, S3, Elasti Cache).
- Establish security best practices including IAM policies, encryption, and network security.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Lead analysis and complex architectural design across platforms toward end‑to‑end solutions; translate guidance into detailed technical design.
- Work collaboratively with development staff—contract, offshore, and internal—and product owners in an agile environment.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert for a wide range of applications and technologies.
- Recommend solutions considering costs, business needs, and system impacts.
- Stay current with advances in the field and rapidly adopt new technologies.
- Prepare presentations and lead development meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, math, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 6 years of software development experience, with 5+ years focused on AWS.
- Deep expertise in core AWS services: EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, VPC, IAM, Cloud Front, Route
53. - Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Cloud Formation, CDK, or Terraform).
- Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Python, Node.js, Go, or similar).
- Experience designing event‑driven architecture using SNS, SQS, Event Bridge, or Kinesis.
- Solid understanding of networking (VPC design, security groups, NACLs, Transit Gateway, Private Link).
- Experience with continuous integration and development tools (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Open Shift, Kubernetes) in a CI/CD pipeline.
- Strong knowledge of security best practices (IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, WAF).
- Experience with observability tools (Cloud Watch, X‑Ray, Open Telemetry).
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (ECS, EKS, Fargate).
- Expertise with microservices and REST‑based API development (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring MVC, .NET Core, Swagger).
- Attention to detail, results oriented, and strong customer focus.
- Excellent technical communication skills and the ability to present information at all organizational levels.
- Problem‑solving mindset and strong prioritization skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Master’s degree.
- Understanding of advanced analytics and machine learning concepts and implementations.
- Experience with big‑data and real‑time streaming analytics architecture.
- Experience with data warehousing architecture and implementation, including source‑to‑target mappings and ETL.
- Relevant platform certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Dev Ops Engineer Professional).
- Knowledge of multi‑account strategies (AWS Organizations, Control Tower).
- Knowledge of data engineering services (Glue, Athena, Lake Formation).
- Experience with AI/ML services (Bedrock, Sage Maker).
- Hybrid office environment (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays). Three days in‑office required.
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours.
- Minimum travel up to 10%.
Salary: $131,000–$160,000 annually (range may vary based on qualifications, geography, and role). Eligibility for an annual bonus per the company bonus plan. No visa sponsorship currently available.
