Ready Mix Driver (Transportation)

Primary duty is delivering ready‑mixed concrete and other associated products from batch plants to construction sites in a safe and efficient manner, while maintaining a clean and safe ready‑mix truck.

• Safely load and promptly deliver ready‑mixed concrete to job sites as dispatched while maintaining positive customer and public relations.
• Effectively operate ready‑mixed concrete truck by consistently following safety standards, delivery instructions, and roadway signs for best routes to job sites.
• Perform related loading and unloading operations with ready‑mixed concrete delivery truck in an efficient safe manner.
• Work outdoors under varied weather conditions and hours (Monday through Saturday possible during construction season) as weather and business conditions may require.
• Perform regular maintenance and cleaning inside of concrete drum as required.
• Follow order and delivery instructions received from dispatchers regarding concrete mix, delivery address, and conditions.
• Prepare truck for delivery and deliver product to job sites following USDOT and IDOT regulations. Rinse chutes and rear of truck free of spilled concrete and return truck to batch plant following EPA and IDNR regulations. Assist in concrete block molds and production.
• Treat job site personnel with a customer‑friendly attitude. Address concerns in a diplomatic manner. Communicate customer needs back to batch plant in a respectful manner.
• Perform pre‑trip vehicle safety inspection and report findings to dispatcher at beginning and end of each shift. Keep inside of cab clean and sanitary. Perform cleaning and routine maintenance of truck.
• Perform other functions and duties as required or directed.

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education and appropriate CDL license with a good driving record to maintain insurability.
• Knowledgeable about and able to follow all relevant USDOT, IDOT, environmental, and traffic laws.
• Have appropriate heavy truck driver training and understand the specific operating functions and controls for a ready‑mixed concrete truck.
• Have English language reading and writing abilities in order to understand written safety guidelines, job orders, and performance standards.
• Have good vision and ability to recognize differences in product mix.
• Be dependable, well organized, safety‑minded, and have efficient work habits.
• Be able to pass DOT medical examination.
