AboutThe Role
The CDL A Driver II is responsible for transporting non hazardous materials between Reworld facilities and customer sites while operating a combination of end dump, dry van, and tanker equipment. This position is based out of Cedar Rapids and runs dedicated lanes to Indianapolis and Milwaukee. The role is classified as a regional driver position, with drivers typically out 2 to 3 nights per week rather than home daily.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Drive Class A commercial vehicles to safely transport non hazardous materials including wastewater, LDI water, and solid materials while meeting scheduled delivery requirements
- Operate a mix of equipment including end dumps, dry van trailers, and tanker units based on business needs
- Perform pre trip and post trip inspections of vehicle and equipment to ensure safe operation
- Maintain compliance with DOT regulations, HOS requirements, and company safety policies
- Complete all required administrative paperwork including logs, bills of lading, inspection reports, and delivery documentation
- Maintain clear communication with dispatch, customers, and other drivers regarding schedules, delays, and route conditions
- Ensure safe operation of vehicles to protect employees, customers, and the public
- Follow written and verbal directions to navigate routes efficiently
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs
- Typical start time around 5 AM with shifts averaging approximately 11.5 hours
- Regional routes to Indianapolis with 2 to 3 nights out per week
- Milwaukee routes are typically home daily
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid CDL Class A license
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial tractor trailer driving experience
- Tanker endorsement required
- Acceptable driving record
- Experience operating tanker, dry van, or end dump equipment
- Regional driving experience, particularly in Midwest corridors
- Sleeper cab trucks
- Combination of manual and automatic transmission equipment
- Slip seat operation
- Tanker, dry van, and end dump trailers
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
