About the Role:

Retail Loan QC

Performs file compliance review of all residential mortgages, consumer loans, and home equity lines of credit, including originated, cancelled and rejected loans. Understands the loan origination and closing processes, including compliance requirements, with sufficient detail to be able to effectively review loan files. Ensures that all documents have been properly prepared, that all time frames for disclosures have been met and validates that all documents are calculated accurately.

Interfaces with other departments to obtain additional information required to ensure files are compliant and meet all federal regulations prior to closing.

Key Responsibilities

Identifies findings, communicates findings for corrections and prepares a missing/correction detailed report per loan file. Follows up on unresolved issues to ensure completion of items and offers guidance to correct any errors as needed. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with department to help remedy issues and improve processes

  • Responsible for ensuring that the Bank maintains a sound loan portfolio with respect to compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, and Bank lending policies and procedures. This includes but is not limited to:
    Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure (
    * TRID *), underwriting for ability-to-repay (ATR), qualified mortgage (QM), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and Customer Identity Process (CIP)
  • Assists with input of the monthly report of audit findings by preparing a detailed summary of outstanding items per loan file
  • Provides backup support as needed for Retail Loan Operation Department functions.
  • Stays current on lending regulations, loan policy, underwriting and servicing practices through continuing education, seminars and webinars
  • Performs other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum three (3) years retail loan operations or loan origination experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of TRID , HMDA and loan documents required
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in working with numbers
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of external and internal customers
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong planning, organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records and files
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective time management skills to include prioritizing workload and multiple tasks to meet strict deadlines
  • Teamwork orientation
  • Strong problem solving ability skills
  • Strong knowledge of personal computers and related software to include Word and Excel
  • High school diploma or equivalent a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a banking environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience helpful.
