Plant Accountant

The Plant Accountant is a hands-on finance partner supporting plant leadership and Corporate Finance. This role is responsible for plant-level accounting, cost accounting support, inventory accuracy, and operational reporting within a manufacturing environment. The Plant Accountant provides insights through KPIs, variance analysis, and budgeting support to drive financial accuracy and operational performance.

• Prepare weekly plant KPIs and performance metrics with variance commentary.
• Perform monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting for materials, labor, and overhead.
• Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts (raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and manufacturing variances).
• Ensure accurate plant transactions in the ERP system (inventory, production, labor, scrap, and adjustments).
• Maintain standard costs and assist with shop rate and burden rate updates.
• Support physical inventories and cycle counts; analyze and resolve variances.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost/volume/profit analysis.
• Track capital projects and support basic ROI and payback analysis.
• Partner with operations to improve data integrity, reporting, and process discipline.
• Support internal controls, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Experience with ERP systems and inventory/cost accounting.
• Solid understanding of cost accounting and GAAP.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both operations and finance teams.
• Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
