Qualifications and
Experience:
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent)
- Prior experience working in educational settings is highly valued
- Ability to adapt interpreting methods for a variety of learning and communication needs
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
- Interpret classroom instruction, conversations, and school activities between students, staff, and faculty
- Support students' access to the curriculum by accurately conveying spoken content and student responses
- Modify sign language usage and vocabulary as needed based on the age and development of students
- Assist in school meetings, assemblies, or extracurricular events requiring interpretation services
- Document sessions and maintain accurate records in compliance with school requirements
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for all students
