Overview
Our team sources both goods and services and coordinates their delivery for the Disney Cruise Line (DCL) ships and the private Islands. The Sourcing Specialist coordinates requirements from our DCL Hotel and/or Marine Technical Operations (MTO) Client, fulfills those requirements from the market within the required timeline, and uses effective quoting/bidding, contracting and negotiation to drive value. This role works with stakeholder groups across the US, UK and Asia as a strategic partner to understand business needs, plan and implement sourcing initiatives in compliance with Company guidelines, and meet project timelines and deliverables.
The Sourcing Specialist drives strategic sourcing across various spend categories within the Technical Supply Chain, including ship systems, safety, hotel, furnishings, navigation, environmental, and repair & maintenance to deliver value, drive savings, increase efficiencies and mitigate risks.
The Sourcing Specialist collaborates with Marine, Technical and/or Hotel Space partner departments to coordinate expedited and cost-efficient shipping modes and ensures shipping documentation complies with Trade and Compliance guidelines. This role oversees integration of the sourcing policy across categories and manages strategic sourcing initiatives using market analysis, supplier risk analysis, and baseline spend analysis to develop a strategic sourcing plan with RFP execution, contract confirmation, negotiations, contract execution and monitoring of source recommendations.

- Focus on client management, goods buying and procurement, category management, and technical solution finding in support of Disney Cruise Line New Build and Operations.
- Accountable for business unit sourcing initiatives that consider supply chain processes and infrastructure improvements to drive reductions in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) without compromising policy, business strategy and performance.
- Participate in cross-functional teams responsible for developing and implementing strategic sourcing arrangements with key suppliers.
- Source and negotiate supply relationships on behalf of our DCL’s internal clients. Negotiate cost, lead time, terms, scope of work, payment milestones, warranty, etc. for goods and services as applicable.
- Provide quote management, project sourcing, and order execution for multiple Disney Vessels or Islands.
- Coordinate and confirm requirements for goods or services with on-board partners and/or shoreside management. Support requirements for compliance with regulatory agencies (i.e. SOLAS, MARPOL, USCG, Lloyds Registry, etc.).
- Leverage the global supply base to ensure acquisition of requirements at the best landed cost.
- Resolve issues, such as extended or missed timelines, order errors, and returns timely with ownership in seeing through to completion.
- Provide timely and professional communication to partners.
- Identify supplier performance metrics, process improvements and value opportunities.
- Use strong analytical skills to solve complex problems using a data-driven approach.
- Apply category management best practices, tools and techniques in the development and implementation of an integrated sourcing strategy and assess the overall opportunity of spend categories for projects to engage stakeholders with critical business information.
- Manage contracts and key supplier relationships for the assigned category; understand global, regional, and local contracts.
- Execute on business efforts to protect the brand through best Risk Management practices and support Corporate Citizenship goals in Environmentally and Supplier Diversity.
- 1-3 years of dedicated experience supporting a Strategic Sourcing and/or Procurement department for Marine Industry or heavy-related Project/Construction management in a multifaceted industry (e.g., Park Entertainment and/or Real Estate Development).
- Negotiation experience of pricing and commercial terms and conditions.
- Conforming of Contracts for simple to moderately complex technical and non-technical engagements.
- Understanding and execution of a formal RFP (Request for Pricing/Proposal) process for Services or Goods.
- Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to listen, ask questions and demonstrate a learning mindset.
- Team player with an optimistic attitude towards both people and the work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the audience (peers, leaders, stakeholders, vendors, executives).
- Keeps commitments and knows how to prioritize work with urgency.
- Interacts well with people who have different cultures, backgrounds and work styles (invites diverse points of view).
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Finance, Marine/Industrial Engineering, Naval Architecture, Construction Management, or similar; MBA preferred; CPSM or CPM preferred.
