The Opportunity
This position leads the development of cost estimates for large-scale, complex construction works, often part of major multi-year programs. This position is responsible for coordinating with diverse technical design teams and independent cost estimating teams to assess and validate costs and risks. This position prepares and validates cost and change management reports and produces regular budget/cost reports.
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Leads the development of comprehensive cost estimates based on total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, labor, risk, and general conditions for construction projects of large size and high complexity.
- Oversees and prepares conceptual estimates, change order estimates, and other estimates for large, complex projects. Ensuring alignment with project goals assessing and validating costs and risks of project.
- Develops and standardizes cost report templates and issues budget/cost and change management reports, driving consistency and strategic insight across large programs.
- Produces regular budget/cost reports, including status, forecast at completion, and variance versus baseline budget. Provides recommendations to senior leadership as needed.
- Identifies project constraints and/or needed upgrades and communicates them to the Project Manager. Collaborates with the team to identify potential solutions and impacts.
- Contributes to the development of project plans, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure that cost considerations are integrated into overall project goals.
- Provides expert technical guidance and leadership to junior and support staff, assigning tasks for project duration and ensuring quality assurance throughout the estimation process.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Cost Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Typically requires 15 years relevant experience in construction estimation or similar.
