Highway Engineer II - Moving -Forward

The Opportunity

RS&H is currently seeking a Highway Engineer II to join our team in the Moving I-4 Forward Program Office in Celebration, FL. This is an embedded position reporting to the office five days per week.

As part of the infrastructure team, you will provide professional engineering consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of diverse projects; develop and evaluate engineering reports, plans, and specification criteria; coordinate with a diversified project team, including client communication, proposal coordination, marketing, presentations, and management of other discipline‑related activities; prepare specifications, scaled drawings and proposals and ensure finished plans, specifications, and material approvals;

meet with clients to determine objectives and requirements for executing desired scope; review junior staff’s work for technical accuracy and provide technical guidance to other professionals and technicians; and perform quality control reviews, field reviews, and observations of ongoing construction projects. This position may also review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments, serve as the team expert and/or project lead, lead a discipline team or small multidisciplinary teams to complete projects, and/or manage a small team of direct reports.

• Provide professional engineering consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of diverse projects.
• Develop and evaluate engineering reports, plans, and specification criteria.
• Coordinate with project teams and manage client communication, proposal coordination, marketing, presentations, and management of other discipline‑related activities.
• Prepare specifications, scaled drawings and proposals and ensure finished plans and material approvals.
• Conduct quality control reviews, field reviews, and observations of ongoing construction projects.
• Review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules and lead project or discipline teams.
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff and oversee technical accuracy of their work.

• Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and seven years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Professional engineer in good standing.
• Knowledgeable of applicable federal, state and local codes, criteria, regulations and ordinances.
• Proficient in production software and construction document production.
• Proven ability to successfully address challenging or potentially controversial issues in a sound professional and business‑like manner.
• Experience working on parts of major projects or multiple moderate‑size projects and providing technical guidance to junior‑level staff, including reviewing others’ work for technical accuracy.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with and build relationships with clients, customers, contractors, team members and other key stakeholders.
