CMT Technical Services is seeking an experienced Construction Materials Field Technician to support construction projects throughout the Denver, Colorado area. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys working outdoors, performing field testing, and ensuring construction materials meet project specifications and quality standards.

Compensation: $18-23/hour (DOE)

Full-time; hours may vary based on project demands

What you'll be doing:

* Perform routine field testing of construction materials to verify compliance with project plans and specifications

* Conduct field tests on materials including:

* Fresh concrete (slump, air, temperature, cylinders)

* Soil compaction and density testing

* Aggregate sampling and observation

* Accurately document test results and complete daily reports and datasheets

* Communicate professionally with contractors, project managers, inspectors, and internal teams

* Maintain and safely operate testing equipment in accordance with company procedures

* Support additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor based on project needs

What you have:

* High school diploma or equivalent required

* Minimum 2+ years of construction materials testing experience in the field

* Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and clean MVR

* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate reporting

* Good written and verbal communication skills

* Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment

* Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic computer reporting tools

* Ability to pass a drug screening and background check

* Experience working on CDOT transportation or public infrastructure projects

* Strong knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO field testing procedures

* Additional certifications beyond minimum requirements

* Positive attitude, strong initiative, and customer-service mindset

* Desire to grow into advanced testing, inspection, or leadership roles at CMT

Preferred Certification(s):

Required or ability to obtain shortly after hire:

* ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I

* WAQTC In-Place Density Certification (commonly required for Colorado/CDOT projects)

Preferred:

* WAQTC Embankment & Base

* ACI Strength Testing Technician

* NICET Construction Materials Testing (Soils, Concrete, or Asphalt - Level I or II)

* Nuclear Gauge Safety / Radiation Safety Training
