- Position: Construction Materials Field Technician
- Location: Denver, Colorado
- Schedule: Full‑time; hours may vary based on project demands
- FLSA Exemption: Non‑Exempt
- Compensation: $24–28 per hour (DOE)
- Perform routine field testing of construction materials to verify compliance with project plans and specifications
- Conduct field tests on materials including:
- Fresh concrete (slump, air, temperature, cylinders)
- Soil compaction and density testing
- Aggregate sampling and observation
- Accurately document test results and complete daily reports and datasheets
- Communicate professionally with contractors, project managers, inspectors, and internal teams
- Maintain and safely operate testing equipment in accordance with company procedures
- Support additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor based on project needs
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 2+ years of construction materials testing experience in the field
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and clean MVR
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate reporting
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic computer reporting tools
- Ability to pass a drug screening and background check
- Experience working on CDOT transportation or public infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO field testing procedures
- Additional certifications beyond minimum requirements
- Positive attitude, strong initiative, and customer‑service mindset
- Desire to grow into advanced testing, inspection, or leadership roles at CMT
Required or to obtain shortly after hire:
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
- WAQTC In‑Place Density Certification (commonly required for Colorado/CDOT projects)
- WAQTC Embankment & Base
- ACI Strength Testing Technician
- NICET Construction Materials Testing (Soils, Concrete, or Asphalt – Level I or II)
- Nuclear Gauge Safety / Radiation Safety Training
CMT provides financial assistance for certifications, renewals, PDHs, and continuing education.
