Opened in the Fall of 2017, Boulder Valley School District’s first school in Erie, Colorado, serves students K through 8th grade with a preschool program. The school is a dynamic learning environment organized into five learning communities: PK-K, 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th, 5th-6th and 7th-8th. Flexible grouping arrangements and project/problem based learning are core instructional strategies in creating challenging, meaningful and engaging learning opportunities for all students.

Summary:
A BVSD teacher demonstrates a strong knowledge of the curriculum and content area while positively impacting student achievement through innovative instructional strategies and effectively managing the learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Facilitate learning experiences and teach the course of study as outlined by the District approved curriculum; utilize innovative and differentiated instructional strategies to meet individual needs and motivate students; plan and develop an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom using the approved District instructional model and adhere to state and school district curriculum guidelines.Utilize a Data Driven Instruction and Inquiry (DDI) model to systematically improve student learning; assess student proficiency using formal and informal assessment tools; differentiate assessments based on individual needs; provide timely feedback and targeted interventions; plan and consistently deliver instruction that draws on results of student assessments; anticipate student misconceptions and plan lessons accordingly; report grades.Create and foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment where all students see themselves represented and understand behavioral expectations; implement procedures and routines that maximize learning; respond to misconduct respectfully using restorative practices; seek diverse perspectives; demonstrate mutual respect; communicate and involve parents/guardians in education.Create and support a culture of equity and inclusion that values diversity and culturally responsive practices.Identify barriers in instructional practices that contribute to disproportionate outcomes for underrepresented groups.Develop positive relationships with families; encourage involvement; communicate effectively about student progress; collaborate with families and significant adults; foster two-way communication.Exhibit a growth mindset through professional learning; participate in evaluation, goal setting, and reflection.Engage in reflective dialogue with colleagues to enhance student learning; collaborate with special education, CLDE, and GT teachers for meaningful inclusion and extension opportunities.Act ethically and professionally; prioritize student success and well-being; supervise students; enforce safety standards.Follow legal requirements, negotiated agreements, and district policies.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Required:
- Hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure in process with appropriate endorsement in Physical Education (upload documentation).
- Complete and submit BVSD online application.
- Meet the requirements for the READ Act SB 19-199 and SB22-004 if providing literacy instruction, including obtaining a "READ Act Designation" as needed.
