Our EPC client is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to support a long-term program of substation, transmission line, and telecommunications infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for managing multiple complex capital projects from early planning through construction and closeout, while ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience across utility-scale construction projects, with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders, contractors, and technical teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities Construction Project ManagementLead cross-functional teams to execute substation, transmission, and telecommunications projects from initiation through design, construction, and closeout.
Manage 5–20 concurrent projects of varying scope, size (six-figure to multi-million-dollar capital projects), and voltage levels (4kV–765kV).
Ensure project schedules are met by identifying risks, constraints, and mitigation strategies to achieve required in-service dates.
Navigate client approval and gate processes, including preparing and delivering presentations to senior and executive leadership.
Maintain project financial performance by managing budgets, forecasts, committed and uncommitted costs, and estimates at completion.
Coordinate construction, testing, and commissioning activities with approved vendors and craft labor resources.
Provide consistent project reporting, including status updates, schedules, cost tracking, and stakeholder communications.
Lead project meetings involving cost, schedule, engineering, environmental, construction, public engagement, real estate, and regulatory resources.
Support development of multi-year capital expenditure plans for electric transmission and distribution asset replacement and system improvements.
Interface regularly with project sponsors to refine project scope, timing, and business justification.
Identify efficiencies and synergies across projects to avoid duplication of scope and improve execution effectiveness.
Monitor capital investment alignment with organizational targets and performance objectives.
Assist with development of regulatory and rate filing support documentation.
Review engineering estimates, scopes, and project change requests for accuracy and portfolio alignment.
Coordinate with accounting teams to establish project financial structures and tracking mechanisms.
Develop reports and analyses to support planning, execution, and portfolio-level decision making.
Establish baseline scopes, schedules, and budgets for distribution to project stakeholders.
Develop construction life cycles for substation and transmission projects with a strong focus on outage efficiency and constructability.
Manage overlapping project schedules while meeting all deliverable milestones.
Analyze project documents and site conditions to define construction boundaries and sequencing requirements.
Conduct site walkdowns and project coordination calls to establish achievable construction and outage plans.
Evaluate outage requirements in coordination with adjacent projects and regional schedules.
Develop initial outage sequences to communicate construction approach and lifecycle plans.
Coordinate with drafting and engineering teams to produce construction-ready documentation reflecting project progression from existing to final conditions.
Bachelor's degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant construction project management experience,
or equivalent applicable experience in lieu of a degree.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).
Working knowledge of document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage high volumes of work and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Ability to meet company driving requirements.
Experience supporting construction projects or program management in industries such as:
Power Transmission & Distribution
Energy & Utilities
Manufacturing
Oil & Gas
Transportation
Water/Wastewater
Aviation or Government Infrastructure
Hands-on experience working on construction project sites.
