Overview

Technician Engineer Field responsible for the construction and maintenance of plant infrastructure, design, and engineering, with a focus on outside plant telecommunications route analysis. These engineers support telecom and service provider networks as primary designers of the network.

What you’ll do
  • Oversee and manage field engineering activities for planning, designing, and obtaining permits for new cable routes
  • Visit customer sites to gather OSP site survey information, evaluate requirements, and determine required OSP equipment
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, project management, and scheduling teams to deliver results to the customer
  • Coordinate with drafting and GIS personnel to produce construction drawings used to construct the network
  • Develop base mapping and provide field engineering services to prepare permit drawings, OSP construction drawings, and final as-built drawings in electronic format
  • Provide field engineering services to prepare permit drawings and final as-built drawings per customer specifications
  • Research and apply permitting requirements from jurisdictional authorities (state, county, city, railroads, etc.) into OSP design
  • Recommend final routes based on cost-effectiveness and permitting requirements
  • Evaluate various route options (aerial and underground) and existing conduits
  • Engage daily with the customer’s engineering and project management teams via email/phone and occasional in-person meetings
  • Maintain safe working habits and comply with regulations and policies
What you’ll need
  • Age 18 or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check and company drug screening
  • Ability to attend and pass required training
  • May be required to work after hours, on weekends, or be on-call
  • Regular and timely attendance
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 4-6 years of experience in OSP engineering with aerial and underground construction methods
  • Experience with cable placement and splicing methods
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to travel and work extended hours, overtime, and weekends
  • Reliable transportation and clean driving record
  • Familiarity with permitting requirements for state and local agencies
  • Understanding of Rural Utilities Service (RUS) units and processes
Physical & Safety Requirements and Working Environment
  • Ability to stand, crouch, sit, bend, and handle or feel with hands and fingers; reach with arms
  • Noise level is low to moderate
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to various weather conditions and outdoor environments
  • Exposure to potentially toxic chemicals or corrosive materials
  • Visual requirements include close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment

Pauley Construction, LLC, and the Technician Engineer Field position are safety sensitive.

Pay Range: The Technician Engineer Field position pays an hourly wage of $20.00 - $30.00, depending on experience.
