Product Engineer Who we are

We maintain an intense focus on providing laser measurement technologies that address real world needs and applications, including speed enforcement, accident investigation, forestry, mining, utilities, and surveying, to name just a few.

Who we need

We are looking for a motivated Product Engineer to join our Engineering Team.

What you will do

This person will serve a broad role, combining technical knowledge and hands‑on development work with project coordination duties and creative thinking to accelerate development schedules. This role requires someone who thrives in a team environment where variety in day‑to‑day work is the rule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Sales and Engineering in support of defining product specifications.
  • Influence cross functional teams to drive proactive improvements on both products and processes.
  • Drive the development of program timelines.
  • Contribute to program execution as part of the engineering team.
  • Technical duties will span a wide variety of areas, and include but are not limited to:
    • Driving design reviews
    • Developing and executing test plans
    • Investigating issues with existing or new products
    • Gathering data and using it to drive decision making
    • Regularly learning new tools and techniques and applying them in daily activities
    • Offering product expertise and providing overall engineering guidance and perspective to cross‑organization projects, programs, and activities.
    • Driving innovation and integrating new technologies into projects and activities within the engineering organization.
    • Collaborating with cross‑functional teams, both domestic and international, to launch products into production.
  • Be responsible for following all ISO 9001 and engineering team procedures.
  • Other duties as needed.
What you need
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in one of the following engineering disciplines:
    Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science or a combination of education, training and equivalent work experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of real‑world experience developing and releasing products that incorporate a mix of mechanical, electrical, firmware and software technologies.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable interacting with a wide variety of disciplines and levels of experience.
  • Innate drive, with a passion for learning.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills with experience in developing and troubleshooting electro‑mechanical products.
  • Competence with summarizing technical information in the form of a report.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Mindset of continuous improvement.
Physical Demands
  • Qualified individuals must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Be willing to work in a lab environment as well as outside in various weather conditions to conduct tests on new and revised products.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, lift, climb, sit, see, and hear.

Benefits and Compensation

This full‑time exempt position is eligible for all company benefits including employer paid medical, dental, life, disability, and 401k with a match, and more. The pay for this position has a minimum salary of $6,700 per month. The actual pay rate offer may be higher as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
