JobOverview
The Senior School Finance Specialist will assist the Director of Finance in managing all financial activities of Minga Education Group, ensuring sound fiscal management and transparency, enabling the organization to effectively deliver high‑quality support to learning communities. This role is responsible for assisting with budgeting, financial reporting, grant management, audit coordination, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesFiscal Management:
- Lead day‑to‑day operations of Minga Education Group and partner schools including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
- Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities.
- Assist in the implementation of financial policies and procedures at the internal and school levels to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of all financial transactions.
- Assist in document collection and preparation for the annual audit and tax preparation for MEG client schools.
- Operate each Partner's accounting systems through the approved accounting software.
Budgeting:
- Assist the Director of Finance in the preparation of proposed budgets each year for presentation to each contracted School's Board of Directors.
- Work with each client Business Office professional to develop budget tracking that ensures spending is within budgetary and regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct regular budget to actual analysis of each partner location and provide recommendations based on spending trends.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare for the School's Board of Directors a monthly accounting and detailed statements of all revenues received, from whatever source, with respect to the School, and detailed statements of all expenses, including an accounting of all expenditures for services rendered to, or on behalf of, the School by MEG, whether incurred on‑site or off‑site.
- Prepare other financial statements as required by and in compliance with the School's Contract, the Code, and other applicable laws and regulations, including such documentation and support as needed by the School during an annual audit of the School's financial statements by the independent certified public accountants retained by the School's Board of Directors.
- Prepare other reports on the finances and operation of the School as requested or required by the Federal Department of Education, the Colorado Department of Education, the School's Board of Directors, grant providers, or the School's Authorizer, to ensure compliance with the terms of the School's contract.
Client & Stakeholder Relations:
- Build and maintain strong partner relationships with partner administration, providing ongoing support, resources, and mentoring in best practices.
