Adult Team Occupational Therapist

Overview

STAR Institute, located in Centennial, CO, is looking for talented occupational therapy providers to join our multi-disciplinary team. We specialize in working with individuals and families with differences in the sensory integrative process. Our practice model utilizes an interdisciplinary, client-led, and family-centered approach. The STAR Frame of Reference requires training in Sensory Integration therapy as conceptualized by Ayres and in the DIR/Floortime model (Greenspan).

The client population served includes autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder (SPD), anxiety, learning differences, auditory processing differences, motor coordination differences, and other developmental, learning, mental health, and behavioral differences.

The STAR team works to stay at the cutting edge of research and practice in the sensory integrative process, with extensive mentorship and supervision provided. Duties for all positions include participating in Multi-Disciplinary Evaluations, providing individual and group therapy services using the STAR PROCESS treatment method, documenting progress in treatment notes, education, and coaching, communicating directly with physicians and other external health care providers, and other duties as appropriate.

The Adult Team OT will work closely with the Clinical Director and COO to ensure therapy team services are effective and well-coordinated, oversee caseloads within the team, and ensure current evidence-based practice and outcome measures are embedded in practice of all clinicians.

Responsibilities and expectations include: Strong Adult OT applicants must have at least five years post registration experience, at least 3 of which should be in mental health OT practice. SI certification and/OR DIR certification is preferred; must have clinical expertise and experience in using a wide range of assessment tools for adults. Must be comfortable working in a neurodivergent affirming setting.

Training in SCERTS, iLS, NDT, Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), S2C, trauma informed care also a plus. Experience with team building skills and collaborative style are crucial to success. Salary commensurate with experience. Must be eligible for Medicaid service provision and OT licensure in the state of Colorado.

Ability to complete the following activities safely, and at times, for prolonged periods:

• Standing:
  Maintaining an upright position on the feet, especially for prolonged periods of time
• Pushing:
  Applying pressure and exerting force against an object for the purpose of moving it forward or away from the source of the force – push or pull force up to 35 lbs.
• Lifting:
  Raising an object from a lower to a higher position, or moving an object laterally, from position to position

Required to lift up to 50 lbs of force independently. May be required to lift over 50 lbs with assistance of another person or a mechanical lift

• Stooping:
  Bending the body forward and down from the waist, hips and knees, sometimes for a prolonged length of time.
• Reaching:
  Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction away from the body
• Balancing:
  Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or moving surfaces
