Physical Therapist

This position is responsible forthe evaluation, planning, administration, and supervision of Physical Therapy treatment in accordance with physician referral, state and national organizational standards, regulatory agencies, andestablisheddepartmental policies and procedures. This positiondemonstratesthe clinical competence and knowledge necessary to provide treatmentappropriate tothe age of the patients served.

Core Responsibilities

• Performs and documentsinitialand ongoing assessments ofpatient'scondition.
• Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate toproblemsidentifiedand involves the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plans and/orassistswith patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting. Provides information regarding appropriate selection/useof adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Supervises and delegates the care provided by physical therapy assistants according to established licensing laws, stateregulationsand practice standards.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Performs duties in line with the organization's mission, vision, and values, and strives to elevate them every day.

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong communication skills and ability to explain medical issues in bothlayman’sand medical terms.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations including medical emergencies and communicating with patients and their families.

Experience

• Two years’ experience in inpatient and outpatientsettingpreferred.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy required. Master's or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy preferred.

Physical Demands

• Reaching, bending,lifting more than
  50lbs.,grasping, fine motor skills, pushing and pulling.
  
  Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Well-lit, ventilated, temperature-controlled environment.
  
  Possible hazardsinclude a busy and stressful environment, long hours, and exposure to bio-hazardous waste, body fluids, chemicals, electrical devices, toxic waste, needles, and moving machinery.
