Snowflake Engineer

Location: Remote

Type: Contract

Our direct client is seeking a highly skilled Snowflake Engineer with deep expertise in Snowflake, Python, and SQL to join their data engineering team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and optimize data pipelines and architectures that support advanced analytics and business intelligence initiatives. Experience with mortgage and loan data is strongly preferred.

This role is 100% remote, supporting businesses across the US but following the Eastern Standard Time zone most of the time.

Key Accountabilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using Snowflake.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for efficient data processing.
  • Build and maintain Python-based data workflows for automation and integration.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data systems to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Document data models, processes, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related field.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Snowflake, including performance tuning and advanced features.
  • Strong knowledge of Python for data processing and automation.
  • Advanced SQL skills for complex queries and optimization.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL frameworks, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with mortgage and loan datasets, including understanding of lending processes and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, and regulatory standards in financial services.
  • Exposure to BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).
