Overview
The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder's Office is currently seeking a Technology Specialist to join our team. This hands‑on role supports the needs of the Elections division by providing technical support for election operations, configuring systems, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring compliance with security protocols.

This position provides direct technical support to Clerk and Recorder staff by performing tier‑1 troubleshooting, software and hardware configuration, and end‑user support. It focuses on ensuring systems function effectively to support election operations, with a strong emphasis on Vote Center setup. The role will also involve procedural training, documentation, and collaboration with vendors and stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Configure, deploy, and support election hardware and software, prioritizing Vote Center setup.
- Deploy equipment and supplies to off‑site locations and maintain accurate inventory of all elections technology assets.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software for all Clerk and Recorder divisions as needed.
- Plan, execute, and document technical setups for Vote Centers.
- Ensure voting system components are updated, maintained, tested, and secure.
- Maintain clear procedural documentation for technology assets and Vote Center operations.
- Support lifecycle management of technology assets within the Elections division.
- Maintain and manage an inventory system for all elections equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Colorado statutes, regulations, and Clerk and Recorder policies.
- Provide procedural training and guidance to temporary technical staff during election periods.
- Communicate technical information to audiences with varying technical backgrounds.
- Recommend technology purchases and provide technical support for such decisions.
- Act as a backup for peers, learning essential technology and procedures in other areas.
- Participate in special projects outside of the election cycle to improve processes and systems.
- Perform additional related work as required.
- May be reassigned during emergency situations.
- Minimum of six years of combined education and professional experience in a technology‑related capacity.
- Experience with planning, setup, testing, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network components.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required.
- Familiarity with SharePoint, endpoint or inventory management systems is helpful.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Successful completion of a background investigation is required for job offer.
- Strong communication and customer‑service skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non‑technical users.
- Ability to work independently, stay positive and flexible under pressure, and suggest improvements in processes.
- Knowledge of Windows endpoints, applications, printers and basic network support.
- Experience with site planning, technical logistics, and inventory lifecycle management.
- Documenting technical procedures and troubleshooting documentation.
- Project management skills, prioritizing tasks and communicating with stakeholders.
