About the Role
The Sr Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and building security architectures. This role oversees the implementation of network and computer security and ensures compliance with corporate cybersecurity policies and procedures. The engineer conducts vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, develops and maintains security policies, monitors and responds to security incidents, and provides technical support to maintain the organization's security posture.
They also stay updated on industry trends, emerging threats, and regulatory requirements, participate in security audits, and provide leadership and guidance to junior cybersecurity staff on security practices and technologies.
- Plan, design, and build security architectures to protect the organization’s information systems.
- Oversee implementation of network and computer security measures.
- Ensure compliance with corporate cybersecurity policies and procedures.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security risks.
- Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate security best practices into system designs and deployments.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents and alerts.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting to maintain the organization’s security posture.
- Participate in security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks.
- Apply knowledge of secure systems architecture to enhance infrastructure security.
- Perform risk assessments to identify gaps and propose effective solutions.
- Decompose cybersecurity frameworks and regulations into actionable system requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Master’s degree with 6+ years’ experience).
- Typically 8+ years of related experience.
- At least one required certification: GIAC (Global Information Assurance Certification), CISSP, CISM, or SANS level 400 courses.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies, emerging threats, and emerging regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of enterprise risk management.
- Ability to design, develop, implement, document, improve, and operate all technologies, policies, and procedures for cybersecurity programs across one or more functional areas (analyze, collect & operate, investigate, operate and maintain, oversee and govern, protect and defend, or securely provision).
- Active U.S. Secret clearance is required.
- Certifications:
CCSP, CISA, CISM, CISSP. - Extensive experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
- Deep familiarity with cloud security platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Advanced knowledge of network security protocols and practices.
- Exceptional problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Superior communication and teamwork skills.
- Proven experience in leading and mentoring junior cybersecurity professionals.
- Knowledge of systems engineering and requirements development, verification, and validation.
- Advanced proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Power Shell, or Bash for automation of security tasks.
- Significant experience with endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
- In‑depth understanding of regulatory compliance requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI‑DSS.
- Extensive experience with identity and access management (IAM) solutions.
- Advanced knowledge of threat intelligence platforms and their integration into security operations.
- Strong familiarity with Dev Sec Ops practices and tools.
- Extensive experience with incident response and digital forensics.
- Comprehensive understanding of zero‑trust architecture principles.
- Proven experience with advanced persistent threat (APT) detection and mitigation.
- Advanced knowledge of security architecture frameworks such as SABSA, TOGAF, or Zachman.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large‑scale security projects and initiatives.
- Experience in developing and implementing strategic security roadmaps.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive change across the organization.
- Active U.S. Top Secret clearance is highly preferred.
Pay Range: $ – $ (actual base compensation determined case‑by‑case).
