Job Description
We're seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Enterprise Architecture to set and execute the architectural vision for Arrow's global IT estate.
PositionDirector – Enterprise Architecture
Enterprise Architecture OverviewEnterprise Architecture connects strategy to execution. It translates business priorities into a clear technology blueprint, helping us invest in the right capabilities, reduce complexity, and scale securely.
Enterprise Architecture enables smarter decisions, faster transformation, and better return on our technology spend.
What You'll LeadThis role leads Arrow's enterprise architecture practice as a hub-and-spoke operating model, with a central EA team that sets the standards and domain/BU architects who translate them into delivery.
Central EA Hub- Enterprise principles and standards — outcome‑based, not prescriptive
- Target architectures — cloud, data, integration, security
- Business capability maps and technology roadmaps
- Investment and portfolio guidance — what to fund, retire, modernize
- M&A and major transformation architecture
- Solution design and delivery alignment within their domain
- Translating enterprise guardrails into executable designs
- Providing domain insights back into enterprise roadmaps
- Dotted‑line accountability to Central EA
- Clear decision boundaries so the same questions don’t get re‑litigated
- Set the architectural North Star. Own Arrow's enterprise‑wide reference architecture spanning applications, data, integration, and platforms — aligned to Global Components, ECS, Arrow Sphere, and corporate functions.
- Operate the hub‑and‑spoke model. Lead the central EA team and shape dotted‑line accountability with domain/BU architects across Global Components, ECS, Arrow Sphere, and shared services.
- Lead application rationalization. Inventory the application portfolio, score each on business value / cost / risk, and drive a credible 15–20% reduction in the maintained app count over the next benchmarking cycle.
- Drive Oracle modernization and ERP/CRM consolidation. Partner with the BUs to define our ERP and CRM strategy.
- Govern major investments. Chair the Architecture Review Board; ensure new initiatives fit a coherent target state, not a collection of point solutions.
- Publish capability maps and roadmaps. Maintain authoritative business capability maps, target architectures, and technology roadmaps that leadership uses to make investment decisions.
- Build the practice. Lead and grow a team of enterprise, solution, and domain architects; raise the bar on architectural artifacts (capability models, technology standards, integration patterns, reference designs).
- Inform the next benchmark. Quantify architectural impact (apps retired, platforms consolidated, technical debt burned down) in terms that show up in next year’s ITFM submission.
- 12+ years of progressive IT experience, including 5+ years leading Enterprise Architecture at a large, multi‑business‑unit enterprise (ideally $5B+ revenue).
- Demonstrated track record running an application rationalization program with measurable portfolio reduction.
- Hands‑on experience with ERP and/or CRM consolidation at scale — Oracle, SAP, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, or comparable.
- Deep fluency across cloud (Azure/AWS), integration (API, iPaaS, event streaming), and data architecture.
- Proven ability to build and lead distributed EA teams (US + international); experience working across time zones in a global IT org.
- Track record influencing C‑suite stakeholders and presenting architectural trade‑offs in business terms.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
- Experience in distribution, supply chain, manufacturing, or technology services industries.
- Familiarity with TOGAF, Zachman, or comparable EA frameworks (certification a plus, not required).
- Experience defining and operationalizing Fin Ops / ITFM frameworks (Apptio, NICE, or similar).
- Prior exposure to M&A integration architecture.
- Master's degree (MBA, MS‑IS, MS‑CS).
