Broadcast Engineer

Job Summary

The Engineer1 is a front‑line Tier‑2 support engineer who provides immediate response to customer problems and works closely with Support, Systems Engineering, and Operations staff. The role maintains and recovers master control operations and new media systems such as broadcast, TCP/IP, and file‑based media transcode and delivery. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, and repair of broadcast equipment—audio, video, control systems, and networking products—and providing technical support for master control and live event set‑up to ensure smooth and reliable broadcasting.

• Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of broadcast engineering maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of broadcast automation systems, media servers, master control switchers, signal routers, frame synchronize rs, graphics and branding devices, data encoders, display systems, and other popular broadcast technologies.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems and software.
• Familiarity with Linux/UNIX based systems.
• Understanding of engineering concepts and their application to support clients.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, variable schedules, and overtime.

• Demonstrate understanding of workflows and signal flows, identify at‑fault devices, and implement appropriate solutions.
• Perform basic tuning and troubleshooting of satellite and fiber decoders.
• Apply knowledge of metadata and characteristics of analog, SD/HD signals, and audio types.
• Use test equipment such as waveform monitors, scopes, multimeters, and audio monitors for testing and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with computer hardware, software, and IP networking in multi‑channel broadcasting.
• Understand TCP/IP protocols, network design, and maintenance practices.
• Assist in network planning, engineering, architecture, and development of technical standards for video over IP.
• Create and maintain reference documentation on hardware, applications, and workflow.
• Contribute to projects supporting implementation, operations, and management of real‑time network‑computing infrastructure.
• Install and repair broadcast operations equipment as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation and use issue tracking tools following team protocols.
• Fulfill any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
