Data Science Intern

• Handle and analyze large datasets to uncover valuable insights
• Utilize statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques to interpret complex data
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data findings into actionable business strategies
• Support data-driven decision-making processes
• Assist in developing predictive models
• Assist in automating data collection processes
• Ensure data quality and integrity
• Translate data insights into actionable recommendations for decision-makers
• Collaborate with senior team members and learn from experienced colleagues
• Communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders
• Present findings to business users

• Current student, Senior or higher
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Computer science, data science, statistics, math or a related analytical concentration is required
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)
• Able to work part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week)
• Able to commute to the designated work location in-person, per Xcel Energy’s hybrid work policy
• Familiar in working with SQL and Python
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques and algorithms
• Experience with data visualization tools like Posit or Power BI
• Understanding of concepts related to managing and analyzing large datasets
• Ability to translate business goals to technical expertise
