Salient Compensation: $23.11 – $34.68 hourly / $48,068.80 – $72,134.40 annually (anticipated hiring range $24.73 – $28.89 hourly / $51,438.40 – $60,091.20 annually). Final salary will be determined.
Sign‑on bonus: $2,250.00 while grant funds are available.

General Statement of DutiesUnder the general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Foreman, this position supervises, trains, and inspects the work completed by sentenced trustees (misdemeanors and minimum/medium custody felons – Inmate Workers) in a variety of duties associated with the proper cleaning, maintenance, safety procedures, and care of the Detention Facility and its grounds.
- Supervises and trains inmates responsible for general cleaning and upkeep (minor maintenance) of facilities, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing floors, dusting and polishing surfaces, cleaning restrooms, and maintaining supplies.
- Directs and/or assists trustees in the set‑up of venues and special events, pickups, deliveries to other County locations, and community fundraising events.
- Maintains facility disinfection efforts to minimize germ and virus spread.
- Removes graffiti, drives county vehicles, assists veterans in unloading and stocking food deliveries, operates forklifts and other mobilized equipment.
- Performs minor repairs and painting, manages supplies, and uses electrical cleaning equipment.
- Directs custodial tasks: waste receptacle management, floor cleaning, vent, fan, wall cleaning, and sanitizing restrooms.
- Handles biohazard and chemical cleanup and maintenance of custodial equipment.
- Operates computers and standard office equipment, including required software.
- Maintains regular attendance and is available for weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Performs duties both onsite and offsite; interacts effectively with others; may be assigned other duties as necessary.
- Knowledge of general housekeeping methods, safety precautions, protective equipment, and floor care.
- Skilled in conflict resolution.
- Computer proficiency and use of standard office equipment.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and follow oral/written instructions.
- Physical ability to perform job tasks.
- Effective communication in verbal and written English.
- Operating power equipment and training others on floor buffer and other mechanized cleaning equipment.
- Organize, direct, observe, and control inmate workers.
- Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Education: High School graduate or GED equivalent.
Experience: Two (2) years in janitorial/custodial/general maintenance/repair of buildings or grounds. Equivalent education and experience may satisfy requirements.
Certifications / Licenses: None.
Preferred Qualifications- Supervision experience over others.
Special Requirements
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification within initial status period.

Constantly: Activity exists more than 2/3 of the time.
