Engineering Manager II – Business Area System

• Enhance functional team performance through advanced technical leadership and problem-solving
• Build high-performing teams and drive innovation and successful project outcomes
• Manage complex projects, optimize resources, and mitigate risks through project management and risk assessment
• Focus on process improvements, efficiency, and compliance with standards
• Align initiatives with strategic goals through cross-functional collaboration and innovation management
• Oversee business-area IT services and support, including specialized laptop and hardware provisioning
• Oversee server setup and maintenance for business-area systems and program support environments
• Partner with the lab manager on functional support lab operations, capacity, and access
• Set expectations, standards, and scope for system administrators across the engineering organization
• Support and execute CMMC compliance
• Ensure programs receive required IT and infrastructure support
• Manage, coach, and grow leads and technical staff, including career development and performance conversations
• Own the BA System Support budget and participate in annual planning and trade-offs
• Identify and drive valuable, cost-effective organizational initiatives to completion
• Represent the team in cross-functional forums and negotiate for business needs
• Drive scalability, automation, and common approaches while approving justified exceptions
• Balance business speed against enterprise cost, risk, schedule, and priority

• Bachelor's of Science degree in a related discipline
• Typically, 8+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 4+ years of management experience
• Demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing technical teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development
• Working understanding of program-funded environments, including direct vs. indirect labor, program billing, and handling of sensitive data
• Track record of owning a budget and making cost/risk/schedule trade-offs
• Strong communication skills; able to represent, defend, and negotiate on behalf of the team with cross-functional peers and senior leadership
• Technically aware, willing, and able to dig into the details when required
• Must be able to work in an office environment or hybrid setting
• Ability to travel as required, up to 10% of the time
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
• Ability to understand technical documents, schematics, and electronic instrument measurements
• Ability to work with and collaboratively lead teams of engineers
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance
• U.S. Citizenship status is required for employment due to the active U.S. Security Clearance requirement
