Position: Tooling and Manufacturing Engineer (Micro-Assembly)

Summary

The Tooling and Manufacturing Engineer (Micro‑Assembly) will require CNC operation, PLC programming, assembly, and quality control experience for success in this role. You’ll program proprietary equipment to manufacture custom interconnect products and extremely small, high‑precision components requiring steady hands, attention to detail, and expertise in micro‑engineering processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate proprietary equipment to manufacture parts that meet engineering specifications.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLC‑controlled systems.
  • Assemble and inspect components and subassemblies, ensuring precise fit and functionality.
  • Perform in‑process and final inspections using precision tools and microscopes, adjusting as needed, while maintaining applicable documentation.
  • Maintain equipment, ensuring minimal machine downtime and machine optimization.
  • Provide accurate and timely production and quality logs, machine records, programming changes and quality control findings.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Technical degree or certification in CNC machining, PLC programming, or related fields preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating CNC machines and programming PLC systems required.
  • Experience in assembly and quality control processes in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Tool grinding experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in machine operation, setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges and microscope.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and precision.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent dexterity to work with extremely small parts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and practices in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to sit for long periods, bend, and reach.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and other physical demands.
  • Ability to work effectively using a microscope for long periods of time.
