General

Statement of Job Function

The Advancement and Donor Engagement Associate works alongside and in support of the Director of Advancement, helping the Seminary work toward its fund-raising goals by assisting with prospect qualification, relationship-building, and gift acquisition from donors, alumni, churches, and friends of the Seminary. This entry-level role supports point-of-entry activities that help strengthen relationships with donors and expand the prospect pool for the Seminary, working under the direction of Advancement leadership.

Essential

Functions
  • Supports Denver Seminary’s financial support base by assisting with annual and mid-major gift activities, helping the Seminary work toward its annual gift income and campaign goals.
  • Helps cultivate relationships through regular contact with Seminary donors and potential donors, in support of the Advancement team’s efforts to solicit and acquire financial contributions.
  • Supports a modest, assigned portfolio of mid-major, annual fund, and prospective donors under the guidance of the Director of Advancement, assisting with cultivation and solicitation activities designed to grow their giving over time. Assists with moves-management tracking in the CRM tool as directed.
  • Assists in identifying and researching new donor prospects to help expand the Seminary’s pipeline of mid-major and future major gift supporters, working alongside the Advancement Data Specialist.
  • Helps communicate the President’s vision for the Seminary through writing, public speaking, and interpersonal communication, in coordination with Advancement leadership. Grows in fundraising and sales knowledge and practice through ongoing training and mentorship.
Secondary Functions
  • Assists in coordinating staff and volunteers and attending to details for point-of-entry events such as luncheons, campus tours, Giving Day, and other special campaigns.
  • Coordinate with Advancement Operations Manager for Marketing and Communications needs for Advancement Projects in collaboration with VP of Advancement as appropriate.
  • Supports the team’s efforts to develop and implement strategies for increasing annual giving, with a focus on moving donors through a pipeline of increased yearly gifts, new donor gifts, and lapsed donor recruitment.
  • Assists with specific development programs and activities as assigned by the Director of Advancement.
Education/Training
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Two years of experience in advancement or sales is preferred; equivalent experience in business development, ministry development, alumni relations, nonprofit outreach, or relationship management will also be considered.
  • Excellent oral and writing proficiency.
  • Previous CRM, moves-management, and budget experience is preferred; training will be provided.
