American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position supporting a high-volume ortho surgical program, requiring at least 1 year of recent PACU experience and a CO or compact RN license.
Requirements- Active CO or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of current PACU experience required
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Knowledge of PT/OT instructions for joint patients preferred
- Comfortable with bedside teaching preferred
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required for Florida and Missouri candidates)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Work in a 17-bay Pre/Post surgical PACU unit supporting 4 ORs
- Caseload includes total joint, sports medicine, foot/ankle, podiatry, hand and nerve surgeries along with general surgery procedures (hernia, lap appy, lap chole) and breast/plastic reconstruction cases
- Approximately 80% orthopedic and 20% general surgery case mix
- Patient ratios are 1:2 in Pre-Op, 1:1 in PACU Phase 1, and 2:2 in Phase 2
- Uses stretchers, blood glucose monitors, vital sign monitors, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
- Charting is done in Meditech
- Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- 13-week assignment length
- Provide perianesthesia nursing care across Pre-Op and PACU phases for a primarily orthopedic surgical population
- Work alongside a dedicated anesthesia provider team and experienced surgeons
- Join a full-time core staff with years of tenure and strong team morale
- Collaborate with floor nurses for patient admission processes
Facility is newly built within the last 5 years and known for being clean and modern - Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
