TEMPORARY Limited Commissioned Ranger – Jackson Lake State Park. Overview
Temporary Parks Rangers educate the public and patrol the State Parks. Position:
Temporary limited commissioned ranger (Title 33 Commission). Pay $17.00–$19.00 per hour, 9 months or less, starts April or May 2026.
- Educate visitors, patrolling on foot, bicycle, vessel or vehicle.
- Enforce park laws and regulations; issue warnings and citations.
- Respond to emergencies and resolve visitor complaints.
- Complete reports, may be required to appear in court.
- Inspect boats and other watercraft for aquatic nuisance species.
- Assist with daily park operations: facility maintenance, repair, cleanliness, fee collection, accounting, deposits, visitor services, and environmental education programs.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license.
- No felony convictions or pending charges; misdemeanor and other violations considered.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications (or ability to obtain).
- Able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Weekend, evening, night, weekday and holiday shift work required.
- Pass comprehensive background check.
- Complete Colorado State Park training (may include OC spray training).
- Willingness to work outside in inclement weather.
- Preference for applicants with or pursuing a Natural Resources degree or similar education.
- Perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs: climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling materials.
- Ability to perceive color differences and to hear verbal and radio communications.
