As a Meat Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market, you will be working in one of the most popular departments in our store. You are responsible for providing a high level of customer service, practicing safe food handling procedures and maintaining a high level of product knowledge and preparation techniques. This hands-on position includes receiving, storing, and grinding meats; unloading and transporting fresh, cured, and boxed meats and poultry from delivery;

counting and weighing incoming articles and comparing results against an invoice; examining meats in storage and rotating meats to avoid aging. You will provide prompt and friendly customer service, assist customers with questions and special orders, and maintain a positive, customer-focused environment. You will have knowledge of weekly ad items; direct customers to product locations; and follow our “Clean as You Go” and “Fresh at 4” programs.

This position requires adhering to all procedural guidelines set by the Meat Department. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you.

• Be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have a basic knowledge of math, weights and measures.
• Be dependable and reliable and perform other related duties as assigned.
• Have an outgoing and friendly demeanor, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers.
• Be able to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Have good communication skills; ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
• Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work areas (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.).
• Adhere to all safety, health, weights and measures regulations, and company recipes.
• Capable of standing for up to 4 hours continuously, and up to 8 hours per shift; may walk up to 2 miles per 8 hours.
• Be able to work in a temperature-controlled area and perform general housekeeping in the department.
• Possess good vision for using sharp knives and equipment (knives, band saw, grinder, sausage maker, box cutter, wrapping machine, tenderizer).
• Be able to lift/carry products weighing 25 to 90 lbs, move equipment up to 10 feet as required.
• Be able to move pallets with a pallet jack (up to 500 lbs) up to 100 feet; sustain physical effort up to 5 hours.
• Be able to move racks, tables, and related items up to 70 lbs over distances as required.

The pay range for this position is $16.95 - $22.90 per hour. Sprouts Farmers Market determines pay based on applicable experience and qualifications of the applicant.
