Environmental Professional, Biologist, Wetland Specialist

• Serve as project and/or task manager for environmental/NEPA projects in the Rocky Mountain Region and firmwide
• Coordinate with and support others for overall project performance and deliver projects to clients on schedule and on budget
• Support the national environmental program through marketing, proposal preparation, environmental analysis, and documentation
• Collaborate with engineering professionals across disciplines and other key staff to meet project goals and build client relationships
• Provide technical environmental resource expertise for wetland and biological resources
• Conduct fieldwork, including travel throughout Colorado, Utah, and out of state
• Prepare biological resource reports, including Technical Memos, Biological Assessments, and Biological Evaluations
• Consult with jurisdictional and regulatory agencies and other stakeholders
• Collaborate on environmental and NEPA documentation, including technical reports, EIDs, CEs, EAs, and EISs
• Plan and conduct Waters of the U.S. field delineations, including wetlands, and conduct stream assessments
• Prepare delineation reports, functional assessments, mitigation plans, and Jurisdictional Determinations requests
• Prepare Clean Water Act Sections 404/401 and NPDES Section 402 permit applications
• Coordinate with state, federal, local, and regulatory agencies
• Conduct vegetation and species habitat surveys
• Complete database reviews and background research for NEPA documents
• Prepare Section 7 consultations with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Planning, or a related discipline
• Advanced degrees preferred
• Experience managing environmental projects and supporting NEPA compliance efforts, including technical writing and preparation of environmental documentation, preferred
• 2+ years of experience conducting wetland delineations, threatened and endangered (T&E) species assessments, permitting, reporting, and mitigation planning utilizing the Arid West, Western Mountain, Great Plains, and/or Midwest Regional Supplements
• Candidates with 5+ years of experience strongly preferred
• Experience preparing wetland delineation reports, T&E assessment reports, Section 404 permit applications, and mitigation plans
• Strong field skills in wetland delineation and T&E assessments, including GPS data collection and ArcGIS/GIS applications
• Ability to identify wetlands, jurisdictional waters of the U.S., associated soils, vegetation communities, wildlife species, and habitats common to the Intermountain West, Colorado, Utah, and Midwest regions
• Experience coordinating with federal, state, local, tribal, and regulatory agencies
• Colorado permitting experience and familiarity with CDOT projects preferred
• Professional certification as a Wetland Professional in Training (WPIT), Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), or ability to qualify for PWS certification preferred
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, manage tasks and budgets, and deliver work on schedule
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ArcGIS
