Lowry Security Department
Full‑time Security Technician II responsible for campus patrols, response to incidents, investigations, enforcement, emergency actions, and equipment maintenance while ensuring safety and compliance with policies.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct day‑to‑day security patrols of campus buildings and facilities on foot and by vehicle.
- Respond to radio, telephone and supervisory calls and provide timely notification of security breaches.
- Perform safety escorts, check unauthorized entry, prevent vandalism and theft.
- Investigate incidents, complete accurate reports, file them in the campus reporting system and coordinate with law enforcement.
- Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic, enforce rules, temporarily detain and restrain individuals when necessary.
- Assist in campus evacuations and provide first aid/CPR/AED during emergencies.
- Maintain, clean and properly use all security equipment and protective tools.
- Comply with campus security authority duties and report crimes immediately to the police.
- Two (2) years of work experience in campus safety, law enforcement or as a primary security function (part‑time experience prorated).
- Or college level coursework in Law Enforcement or related field with transcript verifying required credits.
- Valid Colorado driver's license and capability to operate campus vehicles.
Physical Requirements
- Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 60 days of hire.
- Must successfully complete a background check, physical, agility and drug test, and be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be trained to use special equipment (baton, pepper spray, handcuffs) within six months of appointment; failure results in downgrade to Technician I.
- Physical exertion may require up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, or 20 lbs constantly, along with climbing, balancing and other tasks.
