Job Overview
The Senior Electrical Evaluator & Trainer is responsible for assessing apprentice competency and delivering electrical training within a registered apprenticeship program in a solar construction environment. This role ensures apprentices develop the technical skills, safety practices, and code knowledge required to perform electrical work in compliance with NEC, OSHA, DOL, and company standards. The position combines hands‑on field evaluations, classroom instruction, and real‑time coaching, while partnering with field leadership to support workforce development.
Job Responsibilities- Evaluate Apprentice
Competency:
Independently assess electrical apprentices’ skills (installation, wiring, troubleshooting, safety, NEC compliance). - Determine Qualification & Progression:
Create & identify process improvements to qualification programs, make pass/fail decisions and recommend readiness for advancement. - Advise Lower Level Evaluator & Trainers on qualification criteria & processes.
- Lead & Deliver Electrical Training:
Conduct classroom and hands‑on training aligned with registered apprenticeship curriculum; identify skills gaps and recommend curriculum improvements. - Provide Field Coaching & Feedback:
Observe apprentices on job sites and provide real‑time performance coaching. - Train on Solar Electrical Systems:
Instruct on solar PV systems, DC/AC components, inverters, and installation best practices; maintain advanced knowledge of new developments. - Maintain Training & Evaluation Records:
Document assessments, progress, and completion of training in compliance with program requirements. - Ensure Safety Compliance:
Reinforce OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards; correct unsafe behaviors immediately. - Collaborate with Field Leadership:
Coordinate with supervisors and project teams to align training with job site needs; serve as primary point of contact for evaluation & training matters.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- 5-8 years of experience in training, coaching, or mentoring apprentices and conducting evaluations.
- Nfpa 70E Certificate (required).
- OSHA 10/30 certification (required or ability to obtain).
- NCCER Instructor Certification or equivalent (preferred).
- Journeyman Electrician license (preferred).
- Experience with solar PV systems (strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with registered apprenticeship programs (preferred).
Primoris Renewable Energy provides the following compensation range: $90,000- $115,000. This range is based on a full‑time schedule and may vary with experience and location.
Physical Requirements- Must comply with client safety requirements (e.g., clean‑shaven, long sleeves, steel‑toe boots).
- Must pass a physical exam if required.
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs (use assistance for heavier loads).
- Stand or walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces.
- Wear a respirator and other PPE when required.
Industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shops.
