Overview
We are looking for a Community Justice Worker Temp to start a criminal justice career and create a positive impact on the Larimer County community. The role is part‑time and provides schedule flexibility. Successful performance may lead to full‑time employment.
Department Options- Community Corrections – a residential program that aims to reintegrate clients who have committed felonies into the community.
- Alternative Sentencing's Pretrial Unit – supervises and monitors people before they are sentenced.
- Supervise clients directly and ensure accountability.
- Conduct orientations to explain facility and program rules and procedures to new clients.
- Monitor the safety and security of the facility, including searching clients and their belongings, performing security checks, and supervising visitation.
- Collect urinalysis samples, administer breathalyzer tests, and submit samples for drug testing; complete related documentation.
- Maintain client accountability through formal counts, checking clients in and out of the facility, conducting on‑site or phone location checks, and performing random activity monitoring.
- Investigate program violations, prepare incident reports, determine appropriate sanctions (up to revocation and transfer to a secure facility), and provide recommendations.
- Monitor client medications.
- Perform administrative tasks, including documenting client behavior, maintaining records, and processing billing and program‑related documents.
- Assist with other duties necessary for effective job performance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Team collaboration.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and security practices in a correctional setting.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and following reporting procedures.
- Ability to understand and apply department and County rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Skills to effectively address and resolve conflicts.
- Certification in CPR and the administration of Narcan (training offered by department) with the ability and willingness to respond to medical emergencies such as seizures and overdoses.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three months of experience in a correctional setting is preferred.
- English/Spanish bilingual preferred.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License is required.
