Responsibilities include but are not limited to enforcing policies and procedures, which ensure efficient and effective operation of pool facilities including personnel management and training. Duties involve assisting the Pool Manager with all swimming pool operations, including first aid, rotations, public relations, janitorial duties, limited pool maintenance including daily chemical analysis/testing, pool cleaning, cleaning of bathrooms & concession stand area, swim lessons, and all other duties as necessary or required.

This employee should have excellent organizational, communication, and public relation skills. This is a working supervisory position requiring weekend and holiday work.

Pool Manager

Supervision:
Pool Staff, including Head Lifeguards, Lifeguards, Concession workers, and Front Desk workers.

Status:
Part Time Seasonal

Hourly/Salary Range: $17.41 - 18.41 depending on qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The following duties are intended to be illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.

Assist the Pool Manager in all the following areas
:

Scheduling and Reporting

  • Coordinate management rotations with the Pool Manager and/or Head Lifeguard.
  • Ensure backup coverage is available during times of high swimmer/occupancy levels.
  • Ensure WAC hours are posted and advertised.
  • Schedule and publicize swim lessons.
  • Be available via phone in the event of a mechanical problem or vandalism.
  • Establish and post a daily roster for cleaning and maintenance of facility.
  • Maintain and sign Incident/Accident Reports (of employees and patrons)
  • Submit such forms to supervisor and/or City Hall
  • Notify the Pool Manager of injuries requiring medical treatment
  • Coordinate in-service trainings with the Head Lifeguard in accordance with the American Red Cross requirements on a recommended monthly basis.
  • Coordinate receipt reporting with City Clerk’s office.
  • Perform written evaluations (provided by City Hall) of employees to be submitted to supervisor and/or the City Manager for review at the end of the season

Verify Proper Record Keeping and Reporting of the Following:

  • Balance daily receipts with attendance, lesson receipts, and concession sales (report these balances to the Recreation Director)
  • Chemical consumption records.
  • Chemical maintenance, including sanitation and health records.
  • Rescue equipment and first aid material inventory
  • Maintenance
  • Maintain proper water quality, as set forth by the Colorado State Health Department, through chemical balance, disinfection and filtration.
  • Maintain lights, umbrellas and all other fixtures in and around the WAC, in working order.
  • Order chemicals as needed to maintain the WAC, including reserve chemicals to keep on hand.
  • Train designated employees in knowledge of mechanical operation and water quality control
  • Ensure Daily Maintenance
    • Coordinate water quality tests and check water temperatures daily
    • Maintain and use a facility maintenance check list

Other Duties (Verify/Delegate)

  • Eliminate hazards at the WAC and discuss possible changes to eliminate such practices in the future with the Director of Community Services/Pool Board.
  • Order rescue and first aid equipment/materials to maintain necessary inventories.
  • Maintain an orderly WAC office.
  • Check weather and environmental conditions frequently in order to make responsible decisions according to WAC policies and report it to the public when conditions occur.
  • Maintain age/height limit control of slides and deep end of WAC.
  • Assist local swim team with set-up/clean-up of the WAC facility associated with the Wray Invitational swim meet.
  • Attend all pool board meetings.
  • Assist the Director of Community Services with season start-up (cleaning & installation of equipment) as necessary.
  • At the end of the season, clean area and winterize all equipment properly to lengthen its useful life in coordination with the Director of Community Services as necessary.
  • Order products to maintain stock and sell at the concessions stand.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the professional rescuer (attend at least one training session per year)
  • Current Basic First Aid Certification (Required)

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

  • Rules and Regulations of the American Red Cross.
  • Rules and Regulations of the WAC Manual.
