A Mujeres y Pedales (MyP) Coach helps create a positive, inclusive environment where adult participants improve their mountain biking skills and connect through mentorship rooted in The Cycle Effect’s values. Coaches lead bilingual (Spanish/English) practices, plan and communicate practice activities, support safety and group management on trails, and build relationships with participants and the team. The role also includes risk management, clear communication, some logistical support like driving the transport van, and involvement in team trainings and events.
Coaches must be reliable, enthusiastic, bilingual, hold certifications like First Aid/CPR, and be able to ride a mountain bike.

- Support the County Manager and team by creating and effectively communicating practice plans
- Lead practices in Spanish and in English for the group
- Use the TCE mentorship curriculum to lead mentorship discussions at practices

- Build a positive, values-driven environment by attending coach meetings and all trainings, which contribute to connection and strong team culture
- Support and coach participants to help improve upon their bike skills
- Follow risk management procedures to help keep participants safe
- Be a ride leader and implement effective strategies for group management on trails
- Effective and consistent communication with participants and coworkers
- Stay informed by reading the County Manager’s weekly update emails and Whats App communications regularly
- Develop relationships and build rapport with participants and families through TCE practices, indoor programming, and/or additional TCE gatherings/events
- Accurately track attendance for participants, coaches, and volunteers
- Complete practice report forms and follow up on incident report forms
- Submit personal time cards and expense report forms in a timely manner
- Develop relationships and rapport with participants and coworkers via events, volunteering, potlucks
- Use the company’s Google Suite tools and Whats App, with these apps downloaded and actively used on a mobile device to ensure clear, timely communication with the team
- Assist your County Manager by being available to drive the transport van and/or trailer for TCE bike practices, indoor practices, adventure days, excursions, and races
- Be at least 18 years old
- A high School diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Hold a valid driver’s license and reside in the county of the program
- Attend the virtual org-wide Coaches Training Kickoff in addition to the coaches training held prior to beginning coaching
- Commit to (but not limited to) the season of 2-6 hours/week, including regular practices, some weekend events, community service projects, and 1-2 off-season recruiting/engagement events. Because TCE offers year-round programming, practice schedules and opportunities may vary. Coaches will communicate their availability in advance.
- Must be available for evening sessions, including coaching indoor practices and driving company vehicles as part of a coaching shift.
- When needed, assist the County Manager at outreach events to help with recruitment
- Be available to assist the County Manager at special events and gatherings outside of sessions including weekend coaching sessions, when necessary
- Be available to attend TCE race experiences throughout the year
- Be able to obtain your First-Aid CPR, Safe Sport, Ride Leader, Heads Up concussion training, and Colorado Mandatory Report training certification within the first 30 days of employment; WFA/WFR preferred
- Submit to a background check
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) is required
- Training is provided to help new employees succeed in the role.
- Lifting, moving or exerting force up to 50 lbs
- Ride a mountain bike for a minimum of 3 hours at a time
- Reaching, pushing, or pulling with arms/hands up to 50lbs
- Climbing and balancing
- Kneeling, crawling, and crouching
- Working outdoors in heat and cold temperatures
