TRANSPORTATION MANAGER
We are seeking a highly motivated Transportation Manager to join our team at AMCON Distributing Company. As a Transportation Manager
, you will be responsible for developing and implementing transportation strategies that ensure the seamless and efficient delivery of products to our valued customers. The Transportation Manager oversees the coordination of daily transportation operations, maintenance of delivery vehicles, and management of a skilled team. With a focus on optimizing routes, maintaining compliance, and fostering strong relationships with service providers, the Transportation Manager ensures that our products reach their destinations reliably and on time.

- Develop and implement transportation strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and cost-effective distribution of products to our retail partners.
- Oversee the daily operations of the transportation department, including route planning, vehicle scheduling, driver assignments, and load optimization.
- Manage and maintain a fleet of vehicles, ensuring good working conditions and compliance with all safety regulations.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics, taking corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, to ensure smooth coordination of delivery activities.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance transportation efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize delivery delays.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, including DOT requirements.
- Train and supervise transportation staff, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to transportation logistics.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Proven experience in transportation management, preferably in the distribution or retail industry.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements, including DOT regulations.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using transportation management systems (TMS) and other related software applications.
- Effective leadership and team management abilities, with the aptitude to motivate and develop a diverse workforce.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset and the ability to interpret data, generate reports, and provide actionable insights to drive operational improvements.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
