The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) is now accepting applications for Special Education Teachers within the Division of Student Services for the School Year. These positions will be located county-wide and within surrounding districts.
The CCIU is a dynamic educational service agency providing quality, innovative, and cost-effective programs and services to enhance the lives of students, educators, and community members. It serves 12 school districts in Chester County, supporting nearly 86,000 public and non‑public school students and over 6,000 educators. Established by law in 1971, the CCIU works between the Pennsylvania State Department of Education and local school districts to offer services most economically at the regional level.

- Minimum of a bachelor level degree in education required.
- PDE Special Education certification required.
- Experience teaching in Special Education K‑12 classrooms preferred.
- Instruct individuals and groups in special education skill areas.
- Provide specially designed instruction for eligible special education students.
- Plan curriculum and lessons.
- Evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and observation of behavior.
- Support objectives and interventions of the educational program.
- Maintain a safe physical environment of the classroom.
- Maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress.
- Develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of students when appropriate.
- Prepare report cards, educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as required.
- Function as an integral member of the treatment/IEP team, addressing students' needs.
$58,751–$88,563 – Instructional I
$61,300–$92,110 – Instructional II
$65,394–$100,586 – Master’s Degree
$68,403–$104,546 – Master’s Degree plus 15 credits
$69,938–$106,442 – Master’s Degree plus 30 credits
