Position Details: Mercy's Cardiac Unit offers a challenging, fast paced unit where you can expect to take care of patients with various heart dysrhythmias, heart failure, STEMI/NSTEMI and post cardiac cath lab patients, post vascular and thoracic surgical patients, as well as sepsis and other infectious disease processes. The unit offers a 6:1 nurse to patient ratio and is an excellent option for nurses interested in pursuing a career in critical care or cardiac cath lab.
Education
:
Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
Licensure
:
Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
Certifications
:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on unit.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) may be required based on unit.
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) may be required based on unit.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) may be required based on unit.
- Certified Pediatric/Hematology/Oncology Nurse (CPHON) may be required based on unit.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) may be required based on unit.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required based on unit.
- Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required based on unit.
- S.T.A.B.L.E. Six Assessment & Care Modules may be required based on unit.
- Fetal Monitor Certification (C-EFM) may be required based on unit.
- Other unit‑specific certifications as required.
Physical Requirements
:
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
