Plant Manager – Plant Lead Team
To manage and lead overall plant operations ensuring the achievement of plant targets for Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost. This will be executed through providing strong leadership to the plant team and managing the systems, equipment, people, and materials according to the established policies, procedures, specifications, and customer requirements. The individual reports directly to the Director of Manufacturing. Plant Lead Team members report directly to the Plant Manager (typically 4-8 direct reports).
Scope: small to medium‑sized facility with typically 300 or fewer employees and low to mid‑level complexity.
- Lead and drive a plant safety culture, ensuring safety first in all responsibilities.
- Identify opportunities and problem areas for targeted improvement by creating, reviewing, and monitoring data or reports that show performance to KPIs (safety, quality, waste, and productivity).
- Oversee all aspects of human-capital planning and management for the facility, including goal setting, improvement targets, salary planning, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with department safety, product safety, fire protection, company policies/procedures, and housekeeping programs.
- Ensure effective and timely communication for all product associates.
- Manage process-control initiatives by ensuring manufacturing SOPs exist and are sufficient for quality, safety, and process control.
- Lead plant budgeting processes and ensure execution of plant Cap‑Ex planning.
- Drive employee engagement action planning for the facility.
- Communicate business needs and results to all plant associates.
- Lead best‑practice sharing with other facilities.
- Meet safety targets and create a safety culture that ensures no employee is injured.
- Meet or exceed the plant business plan and KPIs.
- Deliver on the established budget.
- Implement cost‑efficient planning and utilization of manpower, materials, and machinery.
- Maintain a high‑performance culture and plant talent drive performance.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal agencies.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or related field.
- 7–10+ years of relevant experience in a production environment.
- Demonstrated passion for safety.
- 5+ years of leadership experience, preferably in flexible packaging.
- Demonstrates Energy, Empowerment, and Execution (the 3 E’s).
