Position Summary
Junior Childcare Activity Leader – After School Teacher is a part‑time, non‑exempt position in Kettering, Centerville, OH. The role assists in planning, developing, and implementing classroom activities. The leader ensures children’s social, physical, spiritual, and mental development while prioritizing safety and well‑being. Hourly rate: $11.00–$13.20.
Essential Functions- Assists in implementing weekly lesson plans that fit the children’s needs, interests, and developmental levels.
- Works cooperatively with classroom staff.
- Documents attendance, absenteeism, transitions, minor discipline, and incidents for each child.
- Is responsible for appearance and management of the classroom or designated program/outside areas, keeping supplies, materials, and equipment orderly.
- Reports broken or unsafe toys and properly disinfects toys and equipment regularly in accordance with state regulations.
- Conducts the program in accordance with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) guidelines.
- Effectively communicates verbal and written reports to the Lead Teacher.
- Possesses working knowledge of child abuse and neglect laws and follows proper reporting procedures.
- Monitors and assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the childcare and program area.
- Attends scheduled staff meetings, activities, and ongoing trainings.
- Attends in‑service training events as required by ODJFS regulations and engages in continued professional development.
- Familiar with NAEYC or NAA accreditation requirements and completes required documentation.
- Communicates concerns, needed repairs, or incidents that may need follow‑up to the direct supervisor.
- Will have the opportunity to work summer months/Day Camp.
- Protects confidential information regarding program participants, families, and staff members.
- Individuals under 18 cannot be left alone with children; an adult 18+ must assist.
- Must be at least 15 years of age and working toward a high school diploma.
- At least six months of experience working with children.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities.
