The Washington-Centerville Public Library is looking to hire a Youth Services Library Specialist, Level 2 (Master's level) to perform the following duties:
Locate, retrieve, restock, check-in and check-out all library materials in all locations. Ordinarily requires regular standing, bending, stooping and lifting of up to twenty five (25) pounds.
Push book trucks of up to thirty (30) pounds.
Communicate in writing, by phone, by facsimile, and in person to patrons and staff members on a professional level.
Perform clerical duties, such as writing, record keeping, alpha and numerical filing, and retrieval of information from various PC’s, automated systems and other sources;
Be competent with computer office applications and Internet usage and research.
Provide advanced customer services such as patron library education, reader’s advisory, and research of print and non-print materials.
Evaluate, recommend, create and implement action plans regarding products, materials and services.
Evaluate and make decisions regarding collection maintenance and development.
RequirementsMaster's degree in Education or with emphasis in Library Science preferred.
Minimum of two years of work experience with youth and or young adults in an education or library environment.
Strong customer service orientation with two years of work experience serving the public.
Experience with desktop publishing, web, and MS Office software.
Previous programming and training experience.
Collaborative and creative, with a win-win disposition and a sense of humor.
Demonstrated ability to contribute in a team environment.
Self motivated, organized, efficient, and productive with excellent time management skills.
Working knowledge of children's and/or youth adult literature in all formats.
Knowledge of youth developmental learning theory and teen pop culture.
Multi-tasking- handle a broad range of tasks and planning duties.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
