Responsibilities & Requirements
- Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with state and national practice acts.
- Provide therapy evaluation in cooperation with referral source to determine extent of symptoms and functional limitations.
- Develop and adjust treatment plan to decrease or eliminate symptoms and functional limitations.
- Direct patient care.
- Day‑to‑day patient scheduling.
- Supervision of Occupational Therapy assistants and students.
- Consultation with physicians and other team members.
- Documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI).
- Clinical education.
- Guest relations.
- Billing for patient services rendered.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Interpret medical history and perform a functional and comprehensive evaluation for adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Establish an appropriate treatment plan based on evaluation findings, patient's individual goals, and current needs.
- Develop goals that are objective, measurable, realistic, and aligned with patient's goals.
- Demonstrate sound clinical decisions and competence in implementing, modifying, and progressing therapy using evidence‑based techniques.
- Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with patient, family, physician, and other caregivers; involve them in the treatment process as appropriate.
- Document evaluations, treatment, progress notes, discharge notes in a timely and accurate manner per KHN documentation policy; utilize clear, concise language.
- Complete other necessary documentation including daily charges and re‑certification letters for outpatients timely and accurately.
- Ensure documentation meets standards of CMS, HFAP, and other regulatory agencies.
- Meet quality improvement and assurance standards of department, including patient/family education and timeliness of discharge notes in accordance with KHN policy.
- Maintain/exceed acceptable productivity level based on departmental standard; prioritize caseload/schedule based on patient acuity and departmental needs; assist co‑workers as needed; accept and complete assigned responsibilities and routine tasks in a timely manner.
- Seek opportunities for professional growth through literature review, participation in professional groups, in‑services, and continuing education.
- Provide clinical supervision of OT and/or OTA students, OTA staff, rehab aides, and volunteers.
- Seek and accept constructive suggestions and implement changes when needed.
- Demonstrate ability to work as a team member toward achieving department goals.
- Graduation from an accredited school of occupational therapy.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate required.
- Occupational Therapist licensed by the State of Ohio.
- Preferred to be registered with NBCOT.
